When was Pandora created?
Pandora was founded in 1982 by Per Enevoldsen and his wife Winnie, in a small jeweler’s shop in Copenhagen, Denmark. From the beginning, they used to travel to Thailand in search of jewellery for importing but since the demand for their products increased, their focus gradually shifted towards wholesale to clients in Denmark. With the passage of time, the company focused on creating its own unique jewellery and in 1989 decided to start manufacturing its jewellery in Thailand.
With complete success, the company began to expand internationally, in 2003 it arrived in the United States (the company’s largest market) and one year later in Germany and Australia. Over the following years, Pandora rapidly expanded its market in other countries.
The company in Australia, is located in the Northern Beaches of Sydney and is one of Pandora’s largest markets worldwide. It has most of their stores franchised, and the remainder are owned and operated by Pandora. Also, it distributes to a large number of independent jewelers.
Nowadays, Pandora operates through more than 6,700 points of sale and employs more than 26,000 people, of which 600 work in Australia.
